FAQs

Is there a waiting list?
Yes, your child’s name will be placed on our waiting list when your completed application form and fee are received. Openings are most likely to occur at the end of the spring semester and are filled to maintain a balanced enrollment in each classroom.

Are any scholarships or tuition assistance resources available?
For those who qualify, we do accept payment from other service organizations such as DCF, Cottonwood, or related to foster care. A scholarship program exists for low-income families who have applied for, but do not qualify for, DCF funding. Amount awarded will be determined based off of income. Scholarship availability is limited and will be determined by a committee.

Do you accept children who have medical conditions, developmental disabilities, behavior problems and/or an IEP or IFSP?
Yes, all of our programs are inclusive meaning that we enroll children with a diversity of abilities and developmental limitations. Our teachers and staff work closely with various community agencies to insure a continuity of services.

What if my child doesn’t speak English?
Our teachers will work closely with your child to assure that his/her personal and learning needs are being met on a daily basis. They will also help children gradually acquire English words in a respectful and supportive environment.

How can I locate other early childhood programs and openings in the community?
Families should contact the ERC Resource & Referral office for assistance in locating child care openings in Douglas and surrounding counties. ERC is regulated by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment and does not charge for this service. They also provide parents with information about how to identify quality programs and interviewing child care providers. ERC is located at 1710 SW 10th Avenue, Suite 215, Topeka, KS 66604 or can be reached at 1-800-279-2372.
